Hello, everyone!

My name is Alex, and I’ll be your tour guide for today; feel free to:

1) Wander off inanely, forcing me to call in search teams.
2) Buy a bunch of postcards at a sleazy tourist stand, despite my advice, and risk getting pickpocketed.
3) Fall into the sea and be late for the aeroplane back home.

Satire aside, I’d love to introduce myself to everyone.

The Basics.

Name: Alexander James Perkins.
Age: 18.
Birthday: March.
Gender: Male.

The Interests.

I’ve always loved the arts. Well, I’ve never really loved doing any practical artwork, as I’m not a great visual artist, but I love the other sides to the umbrella term of ‘The Arts.’ For instance:

I’ve been a singer for most of my life, and have failed at learning several instruments; the only instrument I’ve ever had enough interest in learning has been my voice, as I feel I have control over that…

I do still enjoy listening to all kinds of music, even if I can’t play it – excluding Dubstep and over-produced mainstream pop – and I even write some of my own music, which I try to put up on my Soundcloud page whenever I can.

I’m an actor, first and foremost, and I love performing; I don’t do much in the way of public performances, as there are so many other talented actors that get the parts I go for… but no matter, a good actor is professional about it. However, I have loved going through Drama at school, and performing whenever I can.

I plan on taking up Drama at a higher level, as I have planned to take a joint honours course in the subject at University next year.

I have been a dancer since I was seven, and as such ‘Choreography & Dance’ will be the other part of my aforementioned joint honours course. I do Ballet, which naturally as a man I have had a fair amount of ridicule, I do Tap and I do a little Jazz/Modern dancing. I really enjoy creating dance and dancing in itself, and going into a profession that lets me have that creativity and movement will be fantastic.

The Writing

I’ve always loved writing and reading. I will literally stop on the street to read the whole of a poster if it catches my eye, because I love seeing how different people can use words to varying effects. I currently have two fairly large bookshelves’ worth of literature in my bedroom to read offhand, which I have to organise and be ruthless with due to University’s looming features.

Needless to say, I am not looking forward to that.

At all.

Nor am I getting rid of my ‘Hitchhiker’s Guide’ books.

…oh, hello. You’re still here?

Anyway, the vicious extinguishing of a literary collection aside, I love to draw inspiration from the books I read; I wrote a couple of chapters of a ‘Steampunk’ novel after reading J. W. Jeter’s ‘Infernal Devices,’ – you can find it in my Gallery, it’s called ‘The Clockwork Vista’ - and wrote several private little stories for schoolwork etc. during my A-Level courses. After doing those, I found I loved writing things; I have a very active imagination, and I love expressing all my vibrant ideas and errant thoughts through different written media (poetry, prose, drama etc.)

Want to know any more? Feel free to ask me!

You're so talented. (creepiest voice you can think of)
oh, you don't remember me?
I'm the one that was walking beside you breathing down your neck during the tour...
I tried to hold your hand...
ugh, nevermind.
I wish you the best of success and i look forward to seeing you on the big screen!

Luckily, I survived through this entire tour.
I did seem to misplace my wallet, through.
And my sunglasses.
And everything else I had with me.
But oh well!!
This was interesting, and I had a fun time reading through this and learning about you! I'm gonna have to check out The Clockwork Vista some time. My mom enjoys Steampunk type things. Maybe I can suggest it to her!
I like drama as well. Even though I've never actually been able to do it. (Shame...) I've been in one play. And I was an extra. But, I guess it's better than nothing, right? :D

Hey, it's awesome to think of a man who dances, especially when lifting the ladies high above the head...:meow: I'm not secure enough in myself to try ballet even though I've wondered what it would be like. :D So, have fun while you're here!

I wandered and bought postcards at that sleazy tourist stand... -___- Shame...
Haha, welcome to the group Alex!
You sound like a young man of many talents! Will you be entering the showbiz any time soon?
I have a particular obsession with Steampunk so I'll be off to read your story now.
I'll bring my towel this time...perhaps it will save me from the tourist stands along the way. ;)

It might sound odd but it was your real name that made me want to read more about you. It happens that you share your first name with a really special person for me  Anyway, my intuition proved to be right, because you sound like an amazing person who is willing to pursue his dreams:clap:. Although I don't hate people who listen to dubstep, I hate it with all my heart- I don't think it's true music. I am guilty of listening to some mainstream songs though . Anyway, I am looking forward to see more of you in the future, welcome to the group!

Welcome. Is there anything you do not do when it comes to the arts? You seem to have a foothold in everything, which is awesome! I really look foreword getting to know you through your work.

In answer to your question... when it comes to painting, sculpture, and other such 'Arts' that the Art departments in schools teach, I wouldn't go closer than an olympic Javelin throw.
Thrown from the Moon.
In the other direction.

Seriously, I'm not great at anything like that, and the way my school taught Art was very much 'Teacher first, Student second.' But I digress; I'll admit, I have a liking for pretty much all the other parts of 'The Arts.'

Thank you; I'm glad I can share my work with the community, even if it's in some limited way; I won't be releasing much new literature until I'm satisfied that my latest short story is up to scratch. Don't get me wrong, I may still write some poems in the meanwhile, but they won't have nearly as much precise focus as I'm going to be giving the story.

I look forward to seeing some of your work in the group folders!

My range of artistic skills begins and ends with writing. I used to do choir and acting, but those two things just sort of slipped away. But I still appreciate all forms of art.

Alex... I think I may have just developed a small crush on you. Nyahaha! And you're witty. I like that. :D I appreciate men who aren't afraid to be themselves. Seriously, all the expectations that come with gender are so- .. IDK. ^^; Anyways- I'm in the process of reading all Litterers Intros and YOU just happened to be second in line. :giggle: And omg.. I would love to listen to some of your songs.. I believe every voice deserves a chance to be heard.. I'm not usually one for pop either- they seem a tad bit overrated for me. People say I have a good voice but- IDK, I'm more into playing the piano :XD:

But seriously, though. Singing, drama, dancing AND writing? You are a jack of all trades- my friend! And I can't wait to interact with you and all the other Litterers in the group. :meow: Ungh- I envy you. You have "Infernal Devices" .. Unfortunately, that's still in my wishlist, as are many other series that I would very much like to read -sigh- .. Anyways- I hope you continue being your unique self~ ehehe ^^

I'd love to claim that's it's a real, proper squashed-tree copy, but alas; it's an e-book on my iPod. The joys of modern technology, eh? I must warn you about something VERY important about 'Infernal Devices' before you get about to reading it, though; it's a GREAT read.
...bit weird at parts, but still great.

Anyway, escaping the steam-bound jaws of Jeter-land, I am definitely a Jack-of-all-trades; the giveaway, of course, being that I'm master of none. I DO all the things, but I never wanted to specialise; I try to experience everything I possibly can without closing off my options. I kinda feel like my perfect job would be a mix of all those different things...

P.S. I'd love to give you a link to my Soundcloud, although there's not TOO much original stuff on it yet... hope you enjoy; I should be making some more original stuff soonish, as there's a very minor project in the gaming community that I might get to write music for... *excited*
--> [link] <--

P.P.S. I'm kinda taken already, but thanks for the compliment! :)

Yes, yes. Joys of modern technology aside, I still prefer those "squashed-tree" copies, as you so elegantly put it. :XD: It's not quite the same for me. I like the feel of flipping pages- :D Goodie, goodie! All of the feedback I get from others who have read it so far are more or less, positive. So I'm looking forward to acquiring my own copy sometime soon x)

Yeah- Good at everything, master of nothing. Understandable- we can't have everything, now can we? Mh- I'm happy that you can still picture yourself out having some fantastic job that includes all of your passions. As for me, I'll remain forever dreaming and wishing that I could do the same- now if I just get off my ass and strive to achieve that aspiration ^^; And dude! That is so COOL! It would be awesome to have even just a minor part~~ everyone starts out small- remember that! I envy you for having such opportunities- but still- even if I did get presented with such- I can't write my own stuff lol. I'll check it out later as I've procrastinated enough today as it is and now I'm cramming all of my homework into one hour before I sign off to hit the hay- haha! My time management skills suck!

LOL! What a loss to women everywhere! Ahaha it's alright, friend. I'm considerably invested in someone anyways- well.. as invested as one can get when yearning for a star (quite literally) You just seem a bit like that man :meow:

Well Alex, it's good to meet you! You can call me Dazzie ^^ Your introduction is very original and I imagine your writing will reflect as such. Are you in choir? I'm going on my 6th year in choir; I love it so much! And wow! You're a dancer! Guys always think dancing is for girls - especially ballet - so it's really cool that you do that!

Have a nice day! :dummy:
Angelfire115 Featured By Owner Jul 4, 2013  Hobbyist Writer
Well, Dazzie, I have been in choirs before; my personal favourite was the most recent experience, which was a Barbershop choir. I love the harmonies that you get in Barbershop songs, they just sound so... right.

And yes, I'm a dancer... I'm glad you think it's cool. Personally, I think it's a hell of a lot harder than most people think to be able to dance it properly; you have to be in complete and total control of all your muscles in order to hold yourself in each position for long enough, and have enough stamina in both breath and strength to be able to last several routines without collapsing.

That said, I wouldn't give it up for the world; it's something I enjoy doing, and that's why I put up with the ridicule. Eventually, like all ridicule, it stops once people come to terms with it, so it hasn't troubled me in a while. So thank you for your comment, as it's nice to know people appreciate when others go for their dreams.

I think I'll take a stroll on over to your introduction if it's up and about the Introduction Plaza...

Best introduction yet. Welcome aboard! Cheese is free, questions are a buck!
Angelfire115 Featured By Owner Jul 4, 2013  Hobbyist Writer
Ah, I'm afraid you've caught me a little short-changed; I only have 47 British pence, and I am unaware of the conversion rates...

...I'd ask whether you knew the rates, but I'm pretty sure 47p is less than the buck I'd need to ask that question.

Thank you for the welcome, though, and I think I'll request Camembert.

Love that stuff.

Quite a nice layout for introducing yourself, and as for the book thing I must quote the guide and say 'don't panic'. Welcome to the club Alex

>3< This was too funny at the beginning. Cant wait to write with you!!
Angelfire115 Featured By Owner Jul 4, 2013  Hobbyist Writer
I tend to have wit battles with my family on an almost regular basis - unless my granddad is there, in which case the battles escalate to verbal Vietnam - so it seemed natural to begin my introduction by showing people my intrinsic sense of humour. Being able to laugh at things is very important to me, especially laughing at myself.

...write with me? I'd certainly be interested in collaborating with other people in the group, if that's what you mean; I'd love to create something original with someone else, as it would be a great exercise in being able to bounce ideas off one another... so, if that's what you mean, maybe we could do a collaborative piece at some point!
